Digital Auto Power Factor Control
Procedure
Check if all the Power connections and the Relay output connections are correct as per the connector details or numbering (I.e. Y phase wire to "Y", Relay common to "C", etc).
Now power-on the APFC unit.
On power-on the display shows the introductory message "Welcomes You!" for a small duration followed by the message "Automatic Power Factor Controller".
Now the user can access the actual functionality. The operation mode, which was in function during last power-off, is entered into automatically. The LCD displays a corresponding message "Entering. Edit/On Line/Manual Mode".
First of all set your system parameters through the "Edit Mode". If the system is not in the "Edit Mode", press the ese/left key till the message "Select Mode: appears on the LCD, line1 and the LCD line 2 shows the various mode options pointed by an arrow pointer. By using the, UP/DOWN keys the user can toggle between the various modes. When the option "Edit Mode" appears, press the RIGHT/ENTER key to enter the "Edit Mode".
On entering the "Edit Mode" the first message displayed will be "PF 0.99", which is the target PF. On pushing the UP / DOWN buttons the display shows. The various user-settable parameters. For editing any of the parameters press "ENTER" and press UP/DOWN to increment/decrement the parameter value. To save/store the set value press the RIGHT/ENTER key. Now this stored value can be recollected even after the unit is switched ON / OFF.
"On-Line" mode is the mode wherein the actual PF correction action is executed. Thus during the "Online" mode the display shows either the measured System parameter value or on occurrence of any of the fault conditions, the unit will alternately display the error condition (e.g. "UnderVtg") & "PF". The line2 of the LCD indicates if any of the capacitors are ON by using a special character "t" corresponding to the Capacitor No. (1 to 12). By pressing ESC/LEFT key and finally return to the Mode selection screen by again pressing the ESC/LEFT key. When system enters the "Halt" condition, all of the capacitor relays are turned OFF. The occurrence of any fault condition is indicated by the flashing display message as Well as 3 small beeps from the buzzer.
"Manual Mode" is wherein some of the system parameters are measured and displayed.
The parameters that can be viewed are:
Power Factor.
3 Phase Line Voltage (in Volts).
Line Current (in Amps).
KW
KVA
KVAr
KVAr required for achieving target PF (in KVAr).
PF count (this parameter has no relevance from the end users point of view).
These parameters can be viewed one by one by pressing the UP/DOWN buttons.
Test Mode
This is a feature used for testing the unit's performance.
When you first enter the "Manual" mode you can observe various parameters like "PF", "VTG" etc by using the UP/DOWN keys. Now for entering the "Test Mode" press RIGHT/ENTER key.
The LCD displays the message "Select Test Mode:" on line 1 and line 2 displays the test options
"Capacitor/Relay Test". Now select the proper test option and then press ENTER.
Capacitor Test
In this test mode we can turn ON all of the capacitor banks one after another.
Now by pressing the "UP" key you can "switch ON" a Capacitor bank and by pressing the "DOWN key you can "switch OFF" a Capacitor bank. The "ON/OFF" switching is sequential (i.e. 1,2,3,4, 4,3,2,1). Also there is a delay between the "ON/OFF" switching, this delay is nothing but the correction delay set by the user through the "Edit mode", so even if the "UP/DOWN" key is pressed the "ON/OFF" switching won't occur until the correction delay is over. For exiting the "Capacitor Test" mode press "ESC/LEFT" key.
Relay Test
In this test mode all of the capacitor banks are automatically turned ON one hy one. .automatically then after a fixed time delay (2 seconds) it is turned OFF, then relay 2 goes through the same process and so on till the Process continues to relay 12 then again relay 1 is turned "ON", this continues till the User does not exit from the test mode using the "ESC" key. For exiting the "Test Mode" press "ESC/LEFT" key, on doing this the system again enters the regular "Manual Mode".
